If you are going to be in the Jacksonville area on the
day of The BEAR Adventure Race, we want to invite you to a day of
adventure being a volunteer Race Official. Our race day usually starts
about 6-7:00 that morning -- and you don't want to miss it. Of
course, you could come and take part for any portion of the race, as it
goes on most of the day. You certainly want to be around for the
finish -- and for the awards.
You may not be thinking of entering as a
competitor, but we'd like to invite you to volunteer -- maybe for the
paddling section, a rope traverse, or some of the other segments of the
all-day event. There will be a variety of activities where you can
volunteer -- the kayaking section, a rope traverse, or some of the other
segments of the all-day event. It will include mountain biking on trails,
running/trekking, navigation (land and water), climbing and ropes
challenges, and a brief ocean swim/wade (to cool off...). There are some
fun and exciting mystery challenges, too. The race will start at 7:30 AM,
and has a 10-hour time limit. Volunteers can commit for the full day or
any part of it -- even if you can only show up later that morning or in
the afternoon -- we just need to know when you can be there to assist
with The BEAR.
Interested?
We'd love to have your assistance at The BEAR. We
usually have at least one volunteers' get-together the week before the race --
you can choose to attend any one that is convenient for you. Send
us your email or phone number so that we can notify you about details
for the meetings. You can meet some of the other volunteers and get to know more about the race itself. You can also see more
detail about The BEAR at this web site starting at the BEAR Info
Page and on The BEAR Updates page.
Please let
us know.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Jakson
