Our
Mission:
Charities
Challenge’s mission is to improve health and fitness, reduce health
risks, and enhance disease management through goal-oriented training
programs.
Why
Charities Challenge?
Healthy
people are more likely to stay healthy when they stay fit through regular
exercise.
However,
physical inactivity is now recognized as a principle risk factor for many
“lifestyle” chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, cancer and
depression.
It’s
been estimated that 60-80% of America’s healthcare costs are related to
physical inactivity and inadequate exercise.
CC
Charities Partners:
In
addition to promoting and supporting CC’s own mission, many CC members
will be fundraising through CC to help our CC Charities Partners to more
effectively promote and lead exercise programs for their special
populations, as well as to fund research to find cures and improve the
lives of all people affected by chronic diseases.
CC is
challenging all of our CC Charities Partners to promote and lead their
special populations in appropriate exercise as a principle part of their
missions to “improve the lives of all people” so affected by the
diseases they’re addressing. CC will help lead and/or promote many of
these exercise programs for our Charities Partners and their special
populations.
CC
members will walk, racewalk, run, ride (bikes), row, and/or roll (inline
skates or wheelchairs) in training for significant goal events.
Many
CC team members will train to complete personally challenging athletic
goal events across America and internationally as a significant part of
our mission to fundraise and advocate for better health through exercise.
These
CC Traveling Team Members are our “CC Ambassadors” promoting and
demonstrating the benefits of exercise to health, fitness and improved
disease management.
Make
a Comeback, Kid!
CC’s
unique and inspiring “Make a Comeback, Kid!” (MACK!) opportunity
encourages select CC team members to make a health/fitness/athletic
comeback from a serious accident, illness or disease. CC will train and
include these special “Challenged Honored Athletes” in our teams with
scholarship support. The MACK! scholarship program seeks nominees.
