General Questions:

Does Charities Challenge only serve people with health problems?

Charities Challenge (CC) is for everyone, regardless of their fitness level. CC includes participants who are recovering from injuries or illnesses, as well as those who are "weekend warriors" and some accomplished athletes.

Fundraising Questions:

Do I have to do fundraising to join Charities Challenge?

No, you don’t have to raise any money to be a CC member. CC’s primary goal is to help our members improve their lives, health and fitness through appropriate exercise.

Fundraising is only involved if you want to do so or wish to become an “expenses paid” member of a CC Traveling Team.

How much money do I have to raise to qualify for an expenses paid CC Traveling Team?

CC Traveling Team members who travel and want their expenses paid must raise a minimum amount that maintains our mission goals.

Fundraising minimums for covered expenses are  approximately $1,000 for local events and $3,000 - $6,000 for a distant event requiring travel, housing and other support.

Who benefits from the money I raise?

All CC fundraising goes to CC to be used in support of the CC mission, including support of our CC team members and our unique “Make A Comeback, Kid!” scholarship program. Money also goes to our Charity Partners in support of their missions to improve the lives of people affected by chronic disease and research into cures.

I’ve never raised money before. I’m not sure where to start.

A fundraising manual and fundraising coaching are provided. We are experienced fundraisers. Many of your teammates have previously fundraised for other programs.

You choose your goal event, the health related cause or CC Charity Partner you want to help, and we’ll help guide you in your fundraising.

Training Questions:

It’s been a long time since I last exercised.  Is Charities Challenge for someone like me?

Yes! CC is for individuals of all fitness levels

Is Charities Challenge just for runners and walkers?

No, bikers, inline skaters, rowers, skiers and others are welcome to join CC. We are currently working to develop a variety of special destination events for CC participants. These may include adventure racing, kayaking and other outdoor activities.

What if I would like to train for an event that is not one of the Charities Challenge goal events?

You can train for any event.

Can I do more than 1 CC goal event per year?

Yes! Your CC membership fee allows you to participate in multiple goal events during a year.

I can’t make any of the Charities Challenge training times. What kind of training and coaching support can I expect from Charities Challenge?

Coaching E-mails, phone support, and training documents are available to CC members.

What are the qualifications of the coaches?

Our coaches are experienced athletes and coaches and are often certified by one or more health, fitness, or athletic organizations.

Where are the discounts on shoes, training clothes and equipment available?

The discount is available at select stores. A list of stores is provided to CC members.
