 | The next Performance Jetty-2-Jetty Ultramarathon & Team Relay
is currently scheduled to
take place on Saturday, 5/5/2012 - start time is 8:30am. (High
tide is at 7:49am, and again at 8:23pm.) |
 | Race Day Check-in and Late Registration
will take place at the
beach access at Atlantic Boulevard, Atlantic Beach, prior
to the race, from 7:45 to 8:15am. This is located at the
east end of Atlantic Boulevard, just where the pavement ends and the
sand begins. |
 | Prior to Race Day, each solo participant
and each member of relay teams needs
to print out, complete and a sign Waiver
& Release --
deliver it to the race officials at the Check-in
and Pre-Race Briefing. |
 | Pre-Race Briefing at Check-in location, prior to the race, at 8:20am, for all race participants (or a Team
representative) and crews, will include Mileage Chart hand-outs, and a safety briefing.
This is also a good opportunity to talk with other participants to secure transportation
with them from the finish
line back to your
vehicles. Following briefing, participants will move with the
Race Officials to the starting point on the beach. All solo participants
and first relay team runners starting the Race must go together with the
Race Officials at this time to be included in the Race. The race will
start at 8:30am on the beach, east of Atlantic Blvd. |
 | Each Team needs to have a team
representative at the Pre-Race Briefing on the morning of the race. Any changes
not listed on this page will be announced at the Pre-Race Briefing. Be there! |
 | Intermediate Cut-off Times/Locations: As deemed necessary by race officials, there will be intermediate cut-off points along the latter
part of the course to avoid having runners left on the course past the time
limit. Unless otherwise stated in the pre-race briefing or amended by
Race Officials, there will be an intermediate cut-off at Guana River
State Park Main Entry/Gate Petroleum Station (27 miles/43.75 km) at 5 hours and
24 minutes after the start; there will also be an intermediate cut-off
at the Reef Restaurant (32.2 miles/52.1 km) at 6 hours and 25 minutes.
If you do not leave these checkpoints within these intermediate
cut-off times,
you (or your team) will be out of the official race. |
 | Overall Time Limit: There will be an 7.5-hour time limit for the
Jetty-2-Jetty Ultramarathon & Team Relay. This represents an
average pace of just over 12 minutes per mile. All racers and teams
must have completed the course within 7.5 hours of the start time to be
considered official Finishers. |
 |
Restroom and water access: All of the J2J
course is actually on the beach, so there are no restrooms directly on
the beach -- not allowed. There are a few locations along the route of
the race where you can conveniently exit the beach to reach public
restrooms. In the beginning of the race, there are several hotels which
can be (and have been) used; a public restroom at 2nd Ave North in
Jacksonville Beach; another at 6th Ave South (a race checkpoint on the
beach), also in Jax Beach; at The Lodge in Ponte Vedra Beach (a race
checkpoint on the beach); at the Mickler's Landing (halfway checkpoint
on the beach) in Ponte Vedra Beach; at each of the beach accesses with
parking in Guana Reserve; at the Gate Petroleum Station (checkpoint on
the beach) in South Ponte Vedra Beach; at the Reef Restaurant
(checkpoint on the beach). We intend to have some water coolers on the
beach at the checkpoints noted above. Be sure to review the
map and
distance chart available
on the J2J webpages. |
 | All participants should print out and bring copies of the Distance
Chart located at http://www.performancemultisports.com/jetty-2-jetty_distances.htm.
Your support crew should bring a copy of the Distance Chart and should also have a map of the roads from Mayport to
St Augustine. Racers' support crews will find it useful to have a copy of the
Florida
Gazetteer (pages 58 and 68) or a detailed map of the roads along
coastline from Mayport to the St Augustine inlet. |
 | Online registration is available until midnight of Thursday before
the race. |
