Ride with Me for Autism

Bike Tour on March 6, 2010

Camp Milton -- Jacksonville, FL

The Routes

Ride with Me for Autism starts and finishes at Camp Milton, alongside the beautiful Jacksonville-Baldwin Rail Trail. There is a 100Km / Metric Century Ride that will use all of the Trail and also ride on some of the rural, quiet roads of Northeast Florida. Rides of shorter distances will take place entirely on the Jax-Baldwin Trail, one of Florida's safest and most scenic Rail-to-Trail conversions.

Choose Your Ride
This beautiful bike ride begins and ends along the Jacksonville-Baldwin Rail Trail in Jacksonville, Florida. The Ride with Me for Autism Tour has choices of 10-mile, 29-mile, and 100k/62 mile bicycling routes, as well as shorter fun rides. The entire family can come out and participate.
Why We Ride

The American Academy of Pediatrics announced in October, 2009, that one out of 91 children is being diagnosed with autism today and 1 out of 58 boys are affected. There is a great need for families to obtain early intervention services and ongoing support for their loved one(s) throughout their lifespan. This puts a great emotional and financial hardship on the majority of families, because services and support do not come easily. This is why we present the annual Ride with Me for Autism. It enables us to raise funding for Autism awareness, to give assistance, provide support and to help fulfill the needs of families who battle with Autism. The proceeds from this ride will go to the Jessica Green Foundation, Inc. which is a not-for-profit organization. (www.jessicagreenfoundation.org)

About Jessica Green

Jessica was a young woman with Asperger’s Syndrome/High Functioning Autism who passed away on December 19, 2007. She was very athletic and enjoyed many sports, but her greatest passion was cycling. Unknowingly, Jessica named her own Ride when she would ask neighbors to "ride with me". She displayed determination in life, reaching her own goals by attending Florida Community College at Jacksonville, working at a local veterinarian office, and giving constant encouragement to others with disabilities. There are many families whose loved ones are faced with the challenges of autism and are constantly seeking support and guidance throughout their life span.
